Here are some tips, DIY’s and hacks for your night routine that you can try to make it more relaxing :)!!
My Night Routine
The first thing Iike to do when I get home is to change into my home clothes! Yes that means no pants!
Once I’m comfortable I basically spend my night editing or answering emails. A great hack for concentration is to use scents that promote concentration & memory like lemon, peppermint and rosemary to help you stay focused. You can either brew a tea for some hydrating aromatherapy or burn a candle or use scent sticks at your desk! Scent associations can help you kick yourself into gear as you start to link this particular smell to studying or working!
All this hard work is making me peckish so it’s off to grab a snack! A really healthy snack idea is to chop up some carrots and celery. If you feel like chips try baking a pita bread till it’s crispy. Beetroot hummus is actually much lower in calories than plain hummus and you can also try other dips like this pumpkin one. Check the labels for the lowest calorie dip if you’re getting ready for summer! Once youre done a great hack to serve these nommy’s is to place it in a muffin tray! It has all the perfect compartments for each thing and a place for the dips! By spooning out your dips first it means you won’t overeat and finish the whole tub – yup…you’re welcome. My fave thing to do while munching is to watch netflix!! If you can’t find a show to watch try scrolling through the foreign sections!! I’ve found some great Japanese shows like Atelier and Terrace House that I’ve loved just as much as western shows! It’s great to experience other cultures as well through entertainment!
A great hack to remove my makeup is to use a cleansing brush like this Michael todd soniclear brush for both makeup removal cleansing and exfoliation in one perfect for lazy days. Their rose milk cleanser is also super gentle and moisturising. ALso their brush head is anti-bacterial and easy to wash under running water and the whole brush is waterproof so you use it while you shower for extra efficiency points!
When I have time I love to pamper myself with a mask and a super easy DIY mask is to use honey!! But sometimes honey gets so hard to spoon out so a great hack is to dip it first in coconut oil which is also amazing for your skin, then when you spoon the honey out it’ll just slip right out!! That way you’re not wasting any that is sticking to the spoon and it’s so much easier to clean!! You can mix different ingredients into the honey depending on your skin concerns!! If you’re suffering from acne try mixing 2 teaspoons of honey with ½ teaspoon of cinnemon. For dry skin try mixing 1 teaspoon of honey with one teaspoon of avacado and one teaspoon of plain yoghurt. If you have sensitive skin try mixing 2 teaspoons of honey with a teaspoon of aloe vera gel and finally if you want to brighten your skin try 2 teaspons of honey with ½ teaspoon of lemon juice!! You can make a honey mask for any skin concern!!
Then just take a brush and brush it onto your skin and leave it on for 30 minutes!!
A great mood hack is to write down 3 things you are grateful for everyday and 3 reflections or learnings that you discovered as well. Just by doing this everyday you’ll experience that you are happier without even changing anything else!! You have to try this even just for a month! You can even tweet it to me!!! It’s skincare time and I absolutely love using this herb water toner! It also helps refresh my skin after the mask getting it ready for the next steps. After this I take some SKII essense and pat it onto my skin until it absorbes. This really helps brighten my complexion! I notice a difference when I use it. Now finally I love using oils as a way to moisturise my skin in winter. It also gives enough slip for me to give myself a quick face massage on days when I’m not using my Perhaps Unicorn massager. Just use your knuckles and press against your face working your way down your neck. Push on the pressure points behind your ears and also on your collar bone to help flush the bloating and toxins from your face! I have linked my face massage tutorial as well below!
Did you know blue based lighting can make it harder to relax and fall asleep, swap your night time lights for warmer tones like candles or fairy lights. Also your phone screen emits a blue based light as well so going on your phone before bed can contribute to insomnia. If you have trouble sleeping so try swapping your phone for a book which is gentler on your eyes and also helps you fall asleep faster. Heheh Mia do you like reading too?? I love winding down with kitties on my bed.
Scents also help me relax so dry putting a few drops of lavender or Jasmine scents and hang it near your pillow for a relaxing sleep it even helps you toss and turn less during the night! For an even better sleep a great hack is to reduce your eye strain. Try giving yourself an eye massage with your fingers or for me I love to use this electronic eye massager. It literally makes me fall asleep in 10 minutes flat. Also eye massages can improve circulation around the eye area which reduces bloating and dark circles. Total bonus!! That’s it my 10 minutes is almost up and I’m asleep – goodnight guys!!
