I usually don’t know when school starts or when it doesn’t so I hope this video comes at a useful time for you 🙂
My school days were so sheltered and nerdy. I’m not going to lie, I went to one of the nerdiest girl schools in Sydney, we were known for getting great results in the high school graduation exams we call the HSC here. There were a small group of us that cared about fashion and wore some makeup but the majority would prefer to get a 90% on an exam paper. In fact we had girls that cried if they got scores under 80/100. Yes I was a nerd.
Even though my school was super nerdy, I guess I was an exception if it wasn’t for my parents pressuring me to do “4 unit maths” which was basically the nerdiest maths and so asian, I would have been studying textiles, and photography. But of course I had to drop them in my final year so I could get a better mark in my exams.
When I was at school I hardly wore makeup, well there were no boys anyways so I’m not going to be impressing the teachers, so hence my back to school makeup tutorial is very minimal. I would wear a little bit of makeup after school or on the weekends, maybe something similar to what I did in the tutorial but yea, our makeup skills in general when I was in high school weren’t all that great. There was no YouTube to teach us 🙁
Plus my mum like never wore any makeup so I couldn’t learn from her either – none of my friends really wore makeup haha.,, oh the makeup mistakes we went through.
For those of your who are too lazy to watch the video (yes I’m going to start catering for you guys 🙂 I will summarise it in text here:
This is a lightweight tinted bb cream with sun protection. I think it’s really important to protect your skin from the sun, and the added tint will hep make your skin look more even without the “heavy” makeup look. The point is to not look like you’re wearing makeup. Sunscreen should be re-applied every 2-3 hours so it’s good to keep it handy 🙂
2. Blotting paper DAISO
Having blotting paper and minimising oil on your skin is the secret to smaller pores. Pores expand when they are stuffed with oil and then blocked with dead skin so it’s important to blot your face during the day, to keep your oil levels down and also keep your face looking fresh.
This is a HG for me, because even with no makeup, neat eyebrows can just make a huge difference. Plus this makeup item just looks like a pen and will blend nicely into your pencil case.
This is another HG of mine. It’s a felt tip/thin brush tip texter liner that very easy to put on and looks like a regular pen. Great to keep for emergencies like if you’re going out after school or even touch ups if you choose to wear eyeliner to school.
A lip tint has been an essential item in all Korean girl’s handbags. Korean brands all make very good quality lip tints and I’ve been meaning to get one, however this lip stain by loreal is also very smooth and has a great texture. You can use this to add a pop of colour to your lips and cheeks, which is a great way to brighten your face when you’re wearing minimal makeup.
6. Bow Hair Comb Accessory
Bobby pins are one of those must have items because who wants hair to go everywhere when you’re in school, but this bow comb takes this to a new level. It can keep more hair back and also it looks cute. You can get these comb type accessories in many different designs too! Stay tuned for my tutorial.
7. Hair tie and pin kit
Clipping your bobby pins to your hair tie is a great way to keep everything together without warranting an extra punch or risking losing your bobby pins somewhere on the bottom of your bag. This can be thrown into your pencil case so you don’t lose it. Plus you should ALWAYS have a hair tie handy if you have long hair.
8. Small lunch box DAISO
Having a big lunch box i great, but having a small one keeps you honest. Buy one thats going to be right portion of food for your body on a daily basis, and this ensures you don’t over fill it or underfill it. Japanese lunch boxes comes in a variety of sizes but are generally small which is great for not over eating. Pack it with heaps of veggies and a bit of rice and meat. I have a Japanese lunchbox tutorial that I will be posting up soon, and is liked to my original video.
A diary or an “agenda” is actually something that will make your school life so much easier. Being organised beats not being organised and in fact being less organised can bring on a whole lot of stress that you simply don’t need. A cute diary can make all the difference and if you’re anything like me, and forget things super easy it’s going to be a lifesaver. I used to use my school diaries when I was at school but you can also carry a cute one like this KikkiK one if it’s going to motivate you to be more organised 🙂 The pastel pages help!
A great inspirational book is always handy. Fiction is great too and if that is what lifts your spirits up, thats what should be in your backpack. For me it’s books like this one. It’s amazing because there are so many real true and inspiring stories from everyday people, that just really make you feel grateful and blessed. We should feel grateful and blessed everyday :)!!
I am going to be giving away a cute floral backpack (your choice of colour) which is one of my dream backpacks if I was a school girl again 🙂 Click this link to enter
