Makeup Tutorial: How to get the perfect straight korean eyebrow

Now to be honest, up until recently I have been pretty eyebrow lazy.

I’ve been known to not pluck for weeks (my bad) and also let my eyebrows grow however they like :/… urgh… and my eyebrows are quite abundant in terms of hair so I’ve never looked pale or sick without doing them, so I just haven’t.
In my recent trip to Seoul however, I have discovered the power of eyebrows! A lot of girls in Korea, their main feature was their eyebrows, with all other makeup kept quite natural.
The clean straight eyebrow is the secret to the signature Korean (ULZZANG) look of innocence and youth. I got pretty obsessed.

Move over my beloved arched brow of the 90’s

Why does that eyebrow just really excite me?
So there I was buying loads of eyebrow pencils and pens – trying to perfect this technique. I never knew how much of a difference eyebrows could have made to my look, and I guess it’s better late than never right?
Now I’m happy to go out of the house with just bb cream, some eyeliner and most importantly, my eyebrows done πŸ™‚

Keep in mind the tutorial I’m about to show you is great for an everyday look, but if you want to refine it with additional layers of eyebrow mascara and powders, please go right ahead.
I usually try and keep my products minimal and try and use a simpler technique if I can get away with it.

What I used

For this look I only used 2 things
1. The Face Shop Design My Eyebrow Pen in Brown (4,000 KW or $10 shipped): I’m now using this one by Holikka Holikka which is just as good! Same price πŸ™‚
2. A Eyebrow razor with a long straight blade. (Daiso or other Japanese/ Korean cosmetic store)

I hope you all enjoy this tutorial πŸ™‚ This is my first video for the Wonderful World of Wengie, because I totally love this eyebrow look – like I can’t live without it now.
I think I love it heaps because with it on, I’ve been told I look like Ulzzang, Korean and all nice things that I like – so enjoy and I’d love to see your finished looks :)!
I’ll be releasing videos every week so don’t forget to subscribe to my channel.
(I figured it was easier to do makeup tutorials on YouTube as opposed to spend hours trying to take photos of every step. It gets kind of annoying doing make up halfway and running back and forth :)!)

There is now a tutorial on how to tweeze and shape straight eyebrows

I've been really into straighter brows too! But my brows are naturally arched and takes more time and effort to change the shape :C Well, it's a work in progress!

Thanks for the tutorial! I was deciding whether or not to actually trim my eyebrows for the straight natural Korean brow but then I might regret it. This is what happens when you're too into Korean beauty. All I need now, is a good eyebrow pencil that actually matches my hair since my brown grew out.

Any ash grey/dark eyebrow pencil/powder recommendations?
    Thank you Wengie!

Hi Wengie! I love the eyebrow tutorial, been looking for one for ages! Thing is, i have an arched eyebrow. So i was wondering if it is possible to change from an arched eyebrow to a straighter looking eyebrow?

And the front part of my eyebrow doesnt seem to be growing back (it stopped growing since earlier this year, i had it waxed and the lady messed it up γ… _γ… ) So any tips on growing the eyebrows back?

    Looking forward for your reply,
    Shaz πŸ™‚
